Prof. B. Ramesh
He joined Goa University as the founding faculty member in the erstwhile combined Faculty of Commerce & Management on 20th June, 1987. Prior to this he worked as lecturer in Commerce at North Eastern Hill University, Mizoram Campus for one year from 1983-84 and from 1984-85 at Regional Engineering College, Silchar, Assam as lecturer in Humanities and then as Assistant Professor in Commerce at Manipur University, Imphal from 1985-87. He served for one year during 2003-2004 as Professor of Business Administration and Head of Commerce and Business Administration at Siddhartha PG centre, Nagarjuna University, Vijaywada on invitation with lien kept at Goa University. Thus he has been in the teaching profession for the last 32 years including as Head and Chairman PGBOS in Commerce for more than 18 years and as Dean of Commerce Faculty for 6 years at Goa University. He pioneered launching of an innovative masters degree in financial services with one-semester duration of corporate internship, on self-financing basis in 2000 which is now offered as MBA (Financial Services). His areas of interest are Finance and capital Market Studies with special interest in Financial Services, Equity Research and Portfolio Management. He has published around 50 research papers in various national and international journals. He has conducted two major Research Projects, one on "Customer Services of SBI in Goa", sponsored by SBI in 1989 and another on "Evaluation of Vocational Education in Goa" sponsored by UGC in 2006. He has successfully guided 10 doctoral works for the award of Ph.D. degrees and 15 dissertations for the award of M.Phil degrees. Currently he is guiding 8 Research Scholars for the award of Ph.D. degree. He worked as adjudicator for more than 80 Ph.D. degrees of various Universities in the country. He had coordinated 21 UGC refresher courses of 21 days duration each, in which 750 faculty members were trained in different functional areas of Commerce and Management. He had directed 4 Small Industries Management Assistance Programme (SIMAP) sponsored by SIDBI of 14 weeks duration each, in which 130 unemployed graduates were trained and employed. He served as Advisory member at the commissionerate, Karnataka and Goa, nominated by CBDT, Govt. of India, Delhi. He served as President of Indian Accounting Association (IAA), Udaipur, during 1999-2000. He also served as President of Indian Commerce Association (ICA) during the year 2010-11. He has been nominated on the board of General Body of the Sports Authority of Goa as Member in the field of Sports in the year 2008. He is also a Certified Corporate Director, recognized by the Institute of Directors (IOD) and has specialization in the field of Corporate Governance, ethics and Sustainability.
