This thesis proposes Design and Development of THREE new algorithms for the UNIT
COMMMITMENT (UC) problem using:
Algorithm–1: Hybrid Differential Evolution (HDE) Algorithm for unit commitment
solution.
Algorithm–2: Hybrid Principal Component Analysis (HPCA) algorithm for unit
commitment solution.
Algorithm–3: Hybrid Differential Evolution with Principal Component Analysis
(HDEPCA) algorithm for unit commitment solution.
This chapter presents statement of UC problem, importance of UC problem, existing
solution methodologies, list of proposed solution methods, original contribution in the
thesis, Scope of work, organization of thesis and conclusions.
