The major irrigation projects include more than 10000 ha of cultural commanded area and medium irrigation projects 2000 ha to 10000 approach for soul, crop and irrigation management. In project areas, soil physical, chemical, biological and mineralogical properties namely soil texture, structure, amount and nature of clay minerals, soil moisture capacity, infiltration rate, percolation rate and adoptability of crops, cropping pattern, available water soil holds are seldom correlates to consumptive use of water by crops. The rise of water table depth within root-zone depth due to percolation of water beyond irrigation requirement has to be anticipated in time to avoid failure of corps and drainage planning
