Prof. (Dr.) Kishor Barad

A Ph.D in Management and first class graduate in MBA with specialization in Marketing and Finance, Dr. Barad is the Director of BBA Program, Chair Professor of Marketing and Program Chair of the full time PGDM at Shanti Business School, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Prior to joining SBS, he was Associate Professor in the area of Marketing at National Institute of Cooperative Management, Gandhinagar in the MBA Program. He brings his in-depth and rich industry, teaching, research, training and consulting experiences of more than 19 years across a few notable institutions and industries. He has participated and published several empirical and thematic based papers at international and national journals, conferences and seminars, and has chaired technical sessions in National conferences. His recent research interests are in studying the impact of social enterprises on Rural Consumer Behavior, Rural Markets of India and New Generation Cooperatives. His international publication includes couple of case studies with European Case Cleå House, London and a book titled "Cooperative Sugar Industry of India-A Managerial Perspective" with international publisher. He has been awarded the "Best Research Paper Award" by National Institute of Cooperative Management, Gandhinagar. He has conducted several MDP for working business executives of leading MNCs, Indian and Cooperative Organizations. He is on Board of Governors and advisor to Janshikshan Sansthan, a livelihood development NGO working in tribal districts of Gujarat and promoted by MHRD, Govt. of India. Dr. Barad is a visiting faculty to a number of leading universities, management institutes and agri business colleges. Dr. Barad is a recognized Ph.D supervisor. He has successfully guided four Ph.D students and few other scholars are working under him for their Ph.D research work.

Book Overview

The Indian Cooperative Sector has achieved commendable growth and success in the past eleven decades of its existence, touching millions of lives especially of the economically deprived and rural inhabitants of the country. The success stories of few cooperative sectors of the economy like industrial, food and agro processing, marketing and distribution cooperatives are being recognized across the globe for its effective contribution in the socio-economic development of its members and are accepted as role models to be replicated in the other emerging and under developing economies of the world.
