Book Overview

The word physical education is composing of two different words ′physical′ and ′education′. The plain dictionary meaning of word physical is ′relating to body′, it may relate one or all of the bodily characteristics. It may be physical strength, physical endurance, physical fitness, physical appearance or physical health. The word education means ′systematic instruction′ or ′preparation for life or for particular task′. A combination meaning of these two words would be that systematic instruction related to physical activities for development and maintenance of human body, fitness or cultivation of physical skill. For understanding the real meaning of physical education, lay emphasis on noun ′Education′ rather than on the adjective ′Physical′. The adjective physical refers here only means. The word physical refers to body, and indicates bodily characteristics such as strength, speed, endurance, flexibility, coordination, performance and health. The term education when used in conjunction with physical refers to a process of education through physical activities where big muscles are involved.
